Crown of Thorns

Crown of Thorns

I created this piece after I talked to a man on myspace.com, he had a sad story like most people who seek social networks for friends, but his story of addiction and devotion struck me. I was inspired to paint “Crown of Thorns” from his poetry and a portion of his life story.

Paper Clay

Super hero's are real people too

writing blogs is new to me, but i have been reading them for a while now and i have read some real inspiring blogs. today people use blogs for a lot of reasons: some use them to place a personal stamp out there in the world...some you it for self promotion and advertising. and others tell their most personal stories to the world. this last one is my favorite type of blog.

please check out this blog, of a single father and a real life Super hero: http://www.myspace.com/sonofsid

you wont be disappointed...he uses humor and reason to tell his story...

A tribute in Paper clay

i have decided to make sculptures from the stories i read from theses blogs. one of his blogs he talks about playing with his son, sporting a real super hero costume and jumping over sky scrappers made from furniture...

here is a pic of the sculpture in progress...i named it "Super Sid"i will post the finished sculpture when i finish.

give thanks for recycled art

Artful Folks
Thanksgiving is right around the corner…the days just fly by…scary really…I’m getting all my crafts in order for etsy and ebay and zazzle as well as for the home here in CT. this year I have made papier-mâché dolls and now I’m working on marionette dolls…hope to finish my first real soon.

Adding green to your Thanksgiving
I re-purpose old unwanted(s) into art I think it adds more character to the pieces I work on to create something from …well trash.

New life for your old wood
This pilgrim girl was painted on a piece of wood I found outside and now it still sits outside but now it has a greater purpose it greets all my friends and family…

this is my third blog...whahoo!

a lot has happened since my last blog, so I'll try to touch base on some of the events.

Feeling a little baptist?

this weekend I was hired to video tape a baptist seminar. where one of the big ticket topics was "so you're Baptist, but are you relevant?" i am not kidding, and for the hour long workshop people used examples as to why they were Not relevant...I like to think that every person that exists is relevant. so I am here to say that whether your baptist or not you are relevant. you matter, and as long as I exist you will always mean something to someone...your thoughts , and your actions directly affect another person, place or thing...so you see you are relevant...

Taking my own advise...

I should take my own advise...in my last blog I mention not knowing how to use Etsy.com. so i thought that it must be me or worse my art that kept people away....I thought that i as a Mixed-media artist was irrelevant...my art was not relevant...so i took my advise and thought about the fact that I make art, I see it, I can touch it, and touches me right back by bringing out an emotional response in me...there fore my art is relevant and so am I as an artist and as an individual. I sold this little devil paper mache art doll. she is so cute...i hope that who ever bought her loves her as much as i do...more to come so check back often!

my trials with ETSY.com

a little background
I am an indie outsider artist...in the respect that I've had no real formal training in the Arts or fine arts. i do however have a degree in Video and radio production. I'll probably add some videos from time to time. just check back often.
since my Dad passed away from a heart attack...I have not been able to stop creating stuff...it's really weird, I always had a connection with creativeness (video) but never made what I (and others) call art...until now. so what does this have to do with Etsy, well i made an account there to sell ...but mostly show off my art.
Etsy...is so hard to master, I read somewhere that you need to post stuff daily to stay in the front page...so people can see your stuff with out having to look up tags n such.
my problem is that I started to do this and I managed to get lots of stuff up....but my post didn't stay up long...by 3 pm all my stuff was gone....what to do?
I post the next day and the same thing...
next I decided to make my store (claraism.etsy.com, and dollz.etsy.com) fronts look good...so I made banners...check them out and let me know what you think...computer stuff is not what I do unless I'm editing a wedding....of course., but i think they came out OK...if any one has suggestions as to enhance my Etsy stores please let me know...here is some of my art i have posted...

A fist full of first(s)

this is my very first blog of what i hope will develope into a weekly event. i am not the best at writing and i apologize now for any pain, strain, or metal fatigue that my grammar, punctuation may cause.
this is also my first website, it started off as a place to showcase my interest in movie making as well as a resource page for just about anything...although the idea was a good one ...in the end it was never finished. too much for me to undertake. now i have decided to re event my page as a showcase for all my interests in art, movies, creative journals and maybe some helpful tips in there some where.
i had my very first arts and crafts show this weekend. the weeks leading up to the event had me frazzled; i worked myself up so much ...will my stuff be good enough?...will people just laugh?...or will i have enough to fill the table?...
it turned out that i had more than i needed for one craft show...i did sell some things and the local paper took some pictures of my stuff...ill post them as soon as i see them...people did laugh but in a good way....i learned a lot from other vender's and I'll be better prepared for next year...or the next show which ever comes first...
more to come...pictures and blogs just check back often and leave comments or email me with any questions or helpful tips...
